we took bebe up to the beach for her birthday. although this wasn't technically her first trip, it was definitely the first time she actually experienced the joys of the beach.
we got to our favorite spot and set up. yes, we are those people who show up with armloads of gear. we like to be comfortable! chairs, umbrella, baby sun canopy, cooler, and a few bags of assorted stuff -- toys, sunscreen, diapers, towels, changes of clothes, etc.

bebe was a beach natural. she sat right down and started pouring sand on herself like she'd been doing it her whole life.
she tasted some too. not so sure she liked it.
we brought the party hat. beach party!!!
more fun in the sand.
bebe insisted upon dropping her lunch into the sand and then eating it, giving new meaning to the word sandwich.

she went for a bunch of walks and even went into the ocean a few times (josh should be posting those pics sometime soon).
it was a great day.
