when we had our 18-week ultrasound to check that the baby was developing properly, i looked at the photos and thought to myself, "that baby is a girl." we had told the tech that we didn't want to know the baby's sex, so we didn't end up with any pictures that showed the goods. nope, i was sure that my baby was a girl based on its cute little upturned nose:

now, that's ridiculous. not only was the ultrasound photo basically an image of a skull, boys are just as likely as girls to have cute little upturned noses. and while i did then spend most of the remainder of my pregnancy thinking the baby was a boy, i am happy to report that my daughter does, in fact, have a cute little upturned nose.

i also think it's worth mentioning that the hand you see in the ultrasound picture, up by the baby's face? yeah, she came out like that, with her hand up by her face. and now, when we swaddle her, we have to leave that hand free or she totally freaks out.
speaking of hands, bebe's hands are always in motion. throughout the last couple months of my pregnancy, i could feel them fluttering around by the baby's head. i wondered what it was doing, and now i know:

talking with her hands. wonder where she got that from?
