bebe had her nine-month doctor's appointment today. she weighed in at 18 lbs 9 oz (48th percentile), with a 44-cm head circumference (50th percentile) and a height of 28 1/2 inches (78th percentile). she has stayed on her growth curve, which breastfed babies often don't do, and she is still a long lean lady! dr. bastian was very impressed with her development (especially her language) and her demeanor -- he said that she was much less anxious than most nine-month-olds he sees. the funniest part of the appointment was when he hid his pen under a pile of papers and asked her where it was. she picked up a few of the papers and got distracted crinkling them. a couple minutes later he fished the pen out to write something down and she clapped for him. like, "yay, dr. bastian, you found the pen!"
she had two shots, which went OK thanks to my strategy of making sure she's ready to eat and then nursing her as she gets the shots. she also got a finger stick to check her lead and iron levels and she was such a brave girl!
now that she's mobile, the days of photo shoots on the exam table are over. here she is on the floor of the exam room when we were all ready to go home.

ok- wow- we have to get our little 9 month olds together. Bebe could teach Ben to crawl and start burning of some of that baby cheek fat he stored for the winter. And Ben could teach Bebe the art of being lazy.
