when bebe was an infant, i heard mythical tales of babies who, with no prior warning (or attempts at sleep training), just suddenly slept through the night, prompting their parent(s) to wake up in the morning in a panic, worried that something was wrong. i wondered if maybe that would happen with bebe.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
now, my child is an absolute delight, and in many ways is extremely easy. daytime hours with her are pleasant, fun, and enjoyable 95% of the time. so i have tried not to complain too much about the nights but let me tell you, this kid has been a crappy sleeper. she never once slept through the night until she was 19 months old, and her nights of sleep are somewhere between 9 and 10 hours. even now that she can usually fall back to sleep on her own she still stirs a couple times a night and cries out for me once or twice before settling herself again, and until just a few days ago required a visit from her dad somewhere in the vicinity of 5 am to tell her that it's not time to wake up yet (after which she'd go back to sleep for another hour or so).
well, last night i put bebe down a bit earlier than usual because she'd had a really short nap and was battling a sick belly. she was asleep by 7:45. i woke up at 6:30 this morning with a start and thought, "oh my god, is she ok in there?!?!?!" i went in to check on her -- and inadvertently woke her up -- at 6:45. she had not made a single peep all night long.
wondering what a well-rested bebe looks like?
