one of the things that's been hardest about the fact that nora jane and her parents had to move is that bebe and nj have just recently really started interacting. they say each other's name, they push each other around the living room or the playground on ride-on toys, and they have conversations, though admittedly neither is a very good conversationalist.
some recent examples:
bebe: ball! ball!
nora jane: ball!
bebe: ball!
nora jane: ball! ball! ball!
bebe: dog!
nora jane: doggie! woof woof!
bebe: woof!
nora jane [pointing at bebe's face]: nose!
bebe [pointing at nora jane's face]: nose!
bebe [poking nora jane in the eye]: eye!
nora jane [poking bebe in the eye]: eye!
yesterday afternoon, at our final squeeze-every-moment-out-of-this-last-week playdate, they took things to a new level of cuteness. jill and i weren't sure whether to laugh or cry, so we did a bit of both.

LUCKILY, nora jane and her parents will be back in a few weeks for a wedding, so we'll get to see them then. and plans are already in the works for a trip out to california to visit them sometime over the winter.
(that's me, trying to focus on the positive. *sniff*)
