one year ago today, i saw bebe's heartbeat for the first time. in the middle of the night, i went to the emergency room. i was having sharp shooting pains in my lower abdomen and, being six weeks pregnant and a huge worrier, i wanted to make sure the pregnancy wasn't ectopic.
it wasn't. an ultrasound showed a tiny little blinking dot, right where it was supposed to be.

it was the best birthday present ever.
i've already written about my gratitude to my mother and i am way too sleep deprived to be that eloquent again. but i do want to say, on the anniversary of my birth, thanks mom. thanks for giving birth to me. i may not have this whole motherhood thing figured out yet, but i do know now how hard you worked to bring me here. i love you!
