this is a bit delayed. have i mentioned how difficult it is to find time to blog with an active and curious toddler always underfoot? one whose greatest joy in life is apparently watching videos of herself, so whenever she sees my laptop open asks "bebe? bebe? bebe?" until i either relent and let her watch some (smiles, squeals, delight) or say "no honey, not right now, it's mommy's turn to use the computer (tears, yelling, abject despair)?
well, that active and curious toddler turned 19 months old on sunday. she is talking up a storm now, putting words together left and right and saying new things every day. her newest, something she picked up from her buddy euan, is to talk about what she'll do when she's "older and older and older." examples: drink beer, drink coffee, use q-tips. so, upon seeing her daddy with a pint glass of sam adams, she'll say "daddy beer! bebe beer, older older older!"
she is really, really into her baby dolls these days. i have a post in the works about them -- there are so many. josh, emma, purple baby, baby, pink, baby, little baby, new little baby, ricki, little ricki. she wants them to watch her play. she shares her food with them. she chooses one or two to hold while we nurse. "emma nurse, pink nurse." she cleans their bottoms and vulvas with wipes while she's getting her diaper changed. she sleeps with them ALL at night and during the day when she's playing in her crib she throws them out, one by one, with an emphatic "ba-BOOM!" as each plastic head hits the floor. i don't let her play this game until i'm sure our downstairs neighbors are awake.
i hesitate to even post about this... but miss bebe marie slept through the night for the very first time in her life on saturday night. and she did it again the following night. i am nowhere near expecting it every night yet, but i can see, somewhere in the not-too-distant future, a life in which i am not always teetering on the brink of exhaustion.
since i haven't been posting much recently, i've got a backlog of photos to share from the past month:
midway through the process of gearing up for the walk to our local community center and its drop-in toddler playgroup. the only people who will be nearly as glad as jessie and i for the warm weather are bebe and morrie. not big fans of the snowpants, those two.

one night as we were settling into the glider in her room to start our bedtime routine, she told me she was hungry. actually, she said "eat! eat! eat! tofu!" so we came back out and she sat on the couch with daddy and ate some tofu in her sleepsack.
