after a long morning nap, bebe spent some time in the bumbo, thinking deep thoughts.

lookit what bebe can do!

i tried giving her this toy a couple weeks ago, and she had no idea what to do with it. she couldn't even hold it in her little hands.

look at her now! she put it right in her mouth like she'd been doing it her whole life.

she was pretty happy about it.

and i was too -- it kept her occupied while i cleaned up the kitchen!

opening night at the garden

beatrix is very excited for the celtics' first game of the season. she is especially looking forward to watching them receive their championship rings in front of lebron james. bebe thinks lebron is a real jerk.

i haven't told her yet that the game starts after her bedtime...

weekend with loved ones

when i was talking to my mom on friday, she mentioned that buddy and judy were coming out to visit them on saturday evening. buddy and judy are some of my parents' best friends -- they went to college together (my dad and buddy, and my mom and judy -- no co-ed schools for them 35 years ago!) and have been close ever since. i grew up spending lots of time with them and their two sons, but as the kids have all grown we are scattered and never seem to get to see each other any more. judy had come to meet bebe right after she was born but buddy hadn't met her yet so josh and i decided to head out to mems and teed's to pass bebe around.

she loves her mems

and her teed

and she completely chilled out in the arms of buddy, the mellowest man i know.

unfortunately i didn't get any pictures of her with judy. next time -- which hopefully won't be too far off!

aaaaand, we're back

when we got the call that my computer was ready to be picked up, bebe couldn't believe it!

she sure was excited to get her face back on the internet.

we drove out to the apple store post-haste. i have nothing but good things to say about the folks at the chestnut hill apple store -- although yes, i have had to bring my computer there a ridiculous number of times, they are always so nice and so helpful and they never fail to exceed my expectations. this time they even cleaned my keyboard and the surrounding housing! (it was filthy. who thought that white computers were a good idea?) bebe, however, was completely overwhelmed in the face of all that shiny technology. did she want a nano? an ipod touch? an ipod classic? it was too much for her.

and here is the post i intended for yesterday. captured on video, the world's tiniest mastermind reveals her plot for global domination:

we interrupt this program

my computer is in the shop.  (for the, oh, sixth or seventh time in the two years i've had it.  apple may make pretty products but they're not as reliable as they used to be.)  it's unclear how long the repair will take since they don't even know what's wrong with it yet.  in the meantime i won't be able to upload photos from my camera so... the daily bebe is taking a brief hiatus.  my apologies to the grandparents and whoever else may go through bebe withdrawal.  i can only ask you to join me in hoping for a speedy resolution to the problem.

once i'm back online i will backdate some posts, so stay tuned.

i said brrr, it's cold in here

after our fun but very cold trip to the pumpkin festival on saturday, i finally accepted that fall is here to stay -- at least until winter comes along. so i put the bundle me on bebe's car seat (thanks bishops!) to keep her warm and toasty until spring is here.

the bundle me is great because it means i don't have to put big bulky coats or snowsuits on beebs -- which are not only a pain in the butt to wrangle onto a wiggly baby, they aren't safe to use with five-point car seat restraints. warm and safe, that's how i like my baby.

and she doesn't seem to mind.

this may or may not be related to the change in weather, but poor beatrix has developed eczema. i am hoping it's just due to the antibiotics i was taking for an infection, since it appeared around the same time, and now that they are out of my system it will clear up. but eczema can be triggered by allergens or seasonal weather changes as well.

her poor fat cheeks are all red and scaly. it doesn't seem to be bothering her at all but my heart hurts every time i look at her little face.

we got some new soap and some moisturizer and we're hoping that those changes, coupled with less frequent baths now that the weather is cold and dry, will help. in the meantime, face is going by a new name: redface. (we're not too imaginative around here.)

the best part of the day

when bebe wakes up in the morning, we bring her into bed with us for snuggles. she lies there between us, looking from one to the other and back again with an expression of utter delight, her face cracking into smile after smile after smile. she squeals and babbles and kicks her legs and stretches her hands out to touch our faces.

what could be better than starting my day by snuggling with my two favorite people in the world???

city of (defending) champions

don't think that beatrix has forgotten about the red sox. she can't believe they won game 5! she was pretty peeved that we didn't let her stay up to watch the second-greatest comeback in postseason history. well, beebs, mommy didn't get to stay up either. on account of how exhausted she was from getting up six times a night with a baby going through a growth spurt.

in addition to the sox (who we are anxiously awaiting watching this evening), bebe has been watching lots of preseason basketball with her dad. she has high hopes for this season -- after all, they haven't won a world championship since she's been born.

(thanks for the hat, steve & jod!!!)
