today was the seven thousandth straight day of rain, or so it seemed, but we had fun anyway. nora jane and her mom, freshly back from a week-long trip to visit family and friends on the west coast, came over to visit and the girls were pretty excited to see each other. they interacted much more than they have at previous playdates.
bebe was quite impressed at nora jane's typing skills. "45 words per minute, nj?!?" "oh, it's easy, beebs."

then they tried to pick a dvd to watch. "how about the matrix, nj?" "*sigh* you always choose the matrix, bebe..."
and before nora jane had to go home for dinner, they dug into the little people. nora jane especially liked the polar bear.
bebe didn't have time to be sad when nora jane had to leave, though, because that's when dada came home! dada lets bebe do things mommy never would, like sit up on the counter. and eat potato chips.
oh, that reminds me of what i was originally going to post about today. this morning, bebe put two words together for the first time! josh was eating his breakfast -- a bowl of "oatmeal." (i put it in quotes because he eats those disgusting instant packets of oatmeal that are 50% oatmeal, 50% sickly sweet flavoring, and about 10% as good for you as actual plain oatmeal that you cook on the stove, which is what bebe and i have for breakfast.) he gave bebe a bite and as soon as she swallowed it, she pointed to his bowl and said, "more that." well, she said it in bebe-ese, so it came out "mmmmmbuh da," but we knew what she meant. she surprises us every day!
