bebe is signing!

i started signing with bebe a couple months ago. we sign "nurse" (although we use the ASL sign for "milk"), "more," "eat," "drink," and "cat." for several weeks i have thought that she was signing "nurse" to me but wasn't sure. today it was unmistakable. i was getting her ready for a nap and i put her down on her changing table to change her diaper first. she stuck her hand up in the air, looked at it, looked at me, and very deliberately opened and closed her fingers. she was clearly telling me that she was ready to nurse, and enough with this diaper changing business already!

so after she woke up and it was about time for her to eat again, i decided to see if i could get it on video. it took a while -- i cut out a couple minutes so the video wouldn't be really long but otherwise didn't edit it at all. check it out, she is really signing! my smart girl -- talking* and signing at 7 1/2 months.

*in addition to "more," which she continues to say at almost every meal of solids, she said "da da" to josh last night and this morning, when he entered the room, and she has also said what sounds like "cat" (well, "tat") several times while looking at the cat.
